[#75] Resource Index & Introduction to Trimsheets

October 30, 2019
Evening People!

Another busy week, but work related stuff seems to have died down a little bit and some of the bigger chunks of stress have been lifted, So really nice overall actually!

Resource Index added to Patreon

There's now a resource index on my Patreon page that will help you find all the stuff that I do to help people out and will hopefully help you too!
You can get access to it through my Patreon here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/31019031

Game art institute podcast online!

I can also finally reveal my first podcast that I did, this was one with Ryan Kingslien a while back for the Game Art Institute, I had great fun for doing a first podcast even though I didn't really know what too expect and I feel you can hear it a little too! And as a side note, yes it is super weird listening to your own voice recorded so I couldn't last more than 5mins of this :D

New Resource Section

I will be adding a new section to help people find more references to some of the topics that are near to my heart or will be somewhat relevant to tip section to give some more insight about that.
So you can find this section right after the weekly tips section and will hopefully add some additional stuff for you to explore!

Making some changes to the Lighting!

For the little time I had to work on my personal work this week I spend on doing a bit more testing on the trimsheet and also did some extra work on UV'ing some of the models so that the light bakes at least function to some sort of degree.
And this weekend will be filled with going out because I got some family coming over! :D

Welcome to the new section! :D

To tie into this weekly tip section I'll be adding some more resources that can help with Trim textures and how to make the most out of them!
Some additional resources for this topic can be found here

Using Trim Sheets to Build Complicated Assets Quickly.

Artwork Credit
Joao Silva

This week we will have a look at the work Joao Silva does, this one really stood out to me as I was looking for references on interesting geometric patterns for my current personal work.
I really love the composition of this piece and the way that it frames the central focal point hanging from the ceiling, this is nicely emphasised by the light coming from the ceiling and bounding come nice colors around in the rest of the scene.

There were so many pieces to choose from when picking the artwork to feature here so make sure to check out all of the other pieces he made so far, personally I also really love the pieces done for Star Citizen.
So Joao, thanks so much for inspiring me with your amazing art, and I'm sure you will continue to do it going forward.

All right people! That's going to do it for me for this week, I'll catch you in the next one!If you like these posts or if the tips are useful consider supporting me on Patreon and join all these other lovely people in getting access to the full Tips and Tricks compilation on: https://patreon.com/Beyondextent
