[#77] Corridor Expansions & making Tileables - The Basics

November 13, 2019
Evening People!

This week was actually pretty relaxed, I felt like I took a weekend to relax and fully recharge after all the crazy stuff happening at work. On Saturday I did some more experimentation for my little scene and made some sweet progress. (I know that's what I mean by taking time off, I'm bad at fully shutting down :D)

Ross Baxter podcast

On Sunday I got invited to be on Ross Baxter's student art podcast, and even though I stressed in the beginning ( probably fear of the unknown and how people might react to it? ) it was really nice to just chat about Environment Art and how I got to this point. Hopefully I can link to it soon and share it with all of you.

Preparing Experience Points Interview

Another thing I'm working on is an interview for Experience Points a website build by Kem Yaralioglu That focuses on Environment Art and does some pretty cool interviews and articles on people within the industry.

Moving all assets to Patreon

Another thing I spend some time on was moving all the different assets from all the different platforms and putting them on Patron so you can get access if you are a "polygon" supporter.
So of you are interested in some assets/tutorials head on over to my Patreon.

Hallway experiments

When working on my little project I spend some time experimenting with hallways sections to get some variation going on making corners and other meshes to make these sections look nicer.

It was fun spending more time on this section and experimenting some more again, this is what I enjoy about working on your own work. You can basically pick and choose what you want to work on too!

Quixel joining Unreal Engine

Wiktor Öhman

This is a really special one this week as it perfectly ties in with the awesome news that Quixel will be joining up with Unreal Engine and it makes for a perfect moment to celebrate one of the artists that has been a real powerhouse churning out some amazing scenes with all the megascan assets.

I'm of course talking about Wiktor Ohman, and by this time I assume you have seen his work before.
He's been a personal inspiration for a long time now showcasing great lighting and composition skills that really make the assets stand out.

All right people! That's going to do it for me for this week, I'll catch you in the next one!If you like these posts or if the tips are useful consider supporting me on Patreon and join all these other lovely people in getting access to the full Tips and Tricks compilation on: https://patreon.com/Beyondextent
