First community challenge! & Scene blockouts, why?

July 2, 2020

Evening People!

How are you all doing? I'm doing allright on my end, even though it's been somewhat mentally taxing reading about all the stuff that is going on with all the allegations towards people within Ubisoft, which just disappoints me and I've been trying to stay away from the topic on social media etc because it's just not a good place to talk about those topics in depth, and I wont do the same here either, but it's just been disappointing seeing it happen, and I wish people would have respect for the people they work with.

Anyways, I don't want to drag this blog down with something so heavy either, so let's move on with some other stuff.

Community challenge

Moving on to more exciting stuff is that we launched the first community challenge in an effort to challenge people and to let them get familiar with new topics that are relevant for environment art. The first challenge will be about trimsheets and I'm super excited about seeing what people come up with for the challenge :D

Podcast episode

Also, there is another podcast episode for this week where we talk about finding your own artstyle and learning over time, it's been a pretty interesting topic for us to talk about as well!

I've also been spending some more time working with the trimsheet that I made and it's slowly but surely breathing some more life into my environment and it's fun to see it coming alive slowly but surely!

For this weeks edition we have the work of Noax. who got picked by our weekly vote that we have by all of our patreons!

I'm personally in love this this piece, and I've always had this passion inside to get better at designing things, so whenever I see people pushing their own designs with the use of 3D it really makes me think about my future career path and if at some point I would expand my personal work more towards this kind of stuff. It's really inspiring to see all the shapes that Noax. is using and the balance all the details versus the more easy to look at parts too.

So thank you so much for inspiring me Noax.! I hope to create some kickass designs like this at some point!

All right people! That's going to do it for me for this week, I'll catch you in the next one!If you like these posts or if the tips are useful consider supporting me on Patreon and join all these other lovely people in getting access to the full Tips and Tricks compilation on: https://patreon.com/Beyondextent
