Making wet glass & Composition - Using Contrast

June 18, 2020

Evening People!

Been another busy week, it's also getting hotter and hotter, which is making it a little more unpleasant working from home since we are still looking for an AC! Other then this I'm finding more and more time for personal work again and It's been a while since I had a "Ooooh shit it's already 12pm" moment! :D

New podcast

In this week's episode we are going to be diving into the topic of art school, our personal experience with it and more... This was a pretty interesting episode where we tried to make it a bit more specific towards one topic, so hope you enjoy!

New ideas stirring for the community

Another thing that I have been thinking off is how I can expand the discord community that we have at the moment, not too much to say about this topic just yet, still thinking about some ideas, but I got some good one stirring! So hopefully I can get them going soon :D

Community spotlight

I'll also start adding these in here when we have them, this is a specific section dedicated to share some art from the Beyond Extent Community, these are all pieces that are made by our awesome artists that keep working and sharing their own work! So this first one is by Nikkita Racquel called Paladins Fan Art - Foreman's Rise Spawn Area. Make sure to check it out!

As mentioned before I'm finding more and more time again for personal work, so I'm digging into more master materials and doing some tests with a glass shader that I can use for all my projects going forward. Been having fun with doing some more experiments again and hope to be sharing them more in the future...

I'm really having fun with getting back to personal work and I realise that this is something that I've been missing!

What normal maps are and how they work.

In this tutorial Carlos Lemos will talk about normals and normal maps, avoiding math as much as possible.

Making an Office Environment in Unreal 4

Blender 2.8 Beginner Tutorial

Blender tutorial for beginners, made by Andrew Price, this is a great introduction to Blender.

This week's artist brought to you by our patreons! This was a pretty close one actually :D

For this one we have the work of Jeremy Minor, specifically the work he did on Star Wars that really jumped out to me, I really had a good time playing through the game and these environments are such a big part of that enjoyment for me, I really had a lot of fun running ad playing through these. You can really feel even from this one screenshot above that it has this lived in feeling with all the details in the roughness variations, graffiti decals and so forth.

Thanks so much for inspiring us with these amazing environments Jeremy, these are absolutely awesome!

All right people! That's going to do it for me for this week, I'll catch you in the next one!If you like these posts or if the tips are useful consider supporting me on Patreon and join all these other lovely people in getting access to the full Tips and Tricks compilation on:
